because i checked poe.ninja today found max dot 5 mil and attack damage 170 mil

No, not noob. You can get that dot and stack defenses that the 170 million dps build does not have.

It is definitely true that attacks top out much higher than any dot build these days, however Dots can do all content, generally as well as most attack builds.

Actually the top build of the league is Righteous Fire and Fire trap, both dots.


At the top end of the game, dps over 10 million is kinda overrated, because there are phases to boss fights so you cant kill them in one second anyway.

At that point, defenses are SOOO important.
