Maps with reflect mods
|
Reflect would make more sense if it was hp % based.
For example, chance to reflect varies based on your health pool. Chance to reflect and the damage reflected becomes lower the the less health you have from full. At full health 5000/5000, your chance to reflect is at the upper window. Lets say 10% chance and 10% of hp. This scales appropriately the less health you have from full. So if you are at 4000/5000, then chance to reflect and % hp reflected back is reduced. What this does is progressively reduces the reflect impact so you can react to it and allows you to progress through the content. Albeit, at a slower pace. To make it less deterministic and more random, you can just introduce a range instead of 10% chance and 10% of hp, it could be 7%-10%, 6%-9%, etc.. Last bumped on Sep 1, 2022, 8:11:16 AM

I know this does not solve the problem but are you using the reduced reflected damage from the small pantheon node? Im sort of asking because if you DO and you feel its still bad thats pretty helpful information :P

" in the current state of PoE, if you arent IMMUNE to reflect, it kills you. Math: I do 300k damage per cast. there are 5 targets. i have 5500 hp and 75% lightning resist. one cast does 1.5m damage. with 75% damage reduction, this is 375k. with a further 60% reduced reflect damage, this becomes 150,000. this is slightly more than my 5,500 hp. lets go real silly, all the way up to 99% reduced reflect, same numbers as above. 1.5m -> 375k -> 3,750 damage. I *barely* survive one cast vs 5 enemies. now imagine this isnt a pack of 5, but 25 (say, a shrine or a strongbox). a single cast vs a pack that large, with 99% reduced reflect damage taken, is still 18,750 damage after mitigation. |

" I don't doubt that its bad but at least its better than it was before with more sources of reduced reflected damage. I suggest sources of further reflect damage mitigation in the form of (damage over time) a portion of reflected damage is instead dealt to you over time. perhaps this^ could add some strategy in your build there are a number of other "yeety" things that also need some love too. With the current passive tree masteries and the minor pantheon you can get to 100%+ reduced reflected dmg taken? Or the 2 don't stack?

" I mean I play a summoner so it has no effect on me, but I think map mods which disable a large number of builds probably shouldn't exist. Monsters with extra elemental damage? That's fine, just play carefully. Enemies with much stronger crit? Manageable. Chilled ground and temporal chains? Painful, but doable. Reflect? Hope your main damage type isn't what's being reflected or the map is bricked. Anti-regen? Hope you've got leech, or the map is bricked. Anti-leech? Hope you've got regen, or the map is bricked. Sell the map? Sure, but on principle, I refuse to trade maps for any reason unless they're influenced. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! Reflect could be a fun map mod if it was interactable with - aka monsters have a chance to reflect your spells / projectiles back at you and if they hit you you will take the damage (balanced amount, not instant oneshot)
In its current form reflect is just a matter of doing the map or not doing it. Even a fresh level 70-ish character does so much damage that it will die instantly if the map has reflect mod to that damage type. |

What is also a big problem it's presentation of this build bricking mods. I don't mind them if they are communicated with big red text which you will spot immediately. It's always so frustrating dyeing entering vall area and you miss that reflect hidden in the middle.
