What's wrong with SSF only content, or soulbound items?

I get why Harvest keep prefix/suffix was changed. It was ridiculously powerful to the point it was an absolute must-use to be competitive on the trade market or to keep up on the ladder.
But... why not make using an Harvest craft make the item soulbound so you can't drop or trade it? I understand there's a bit of a slippery slope where people can make the argument "just add more broken stuff, and limit its power by making it soulbound", but I really feel that pre-nerf Harvest would strike a good balance with it. Nothing is wrong with it, what's wrong is GGG's approach to making items feel valuable as outlined at the start of the trade manifesto.

So is it something that gets brought up a lot, but shot down?

Soulbound is a lame way to artificially increases rarity.
Reforge pre/suf is easily nerfed by making it rarer. This is even easier w/ the new Harvest by simply increase the life cost. Everyone knows how powerful it is but you can regulate it by making it hard to get, not impossible to get. Removing it altogether is just straight up petty. On that note, doesnt Beastcraft have the same thing? Reroll pre/suf. Whatever happened to that? |
