What is the best chest armour to maximize my Animate Guardian's ES pool?

Hi,

Trying to create a meme build on Standard: the aim is to have my Animate Guardian do all the damage.

I want to build around Ephemeral Edge, which basically gives flat lightning damage equal to 10% of your ES pool (well, 0%-20%, averaging out at 10%).

So my aim is simple: my AG, equipped with an ephemeral edge, needs to have as much ES as possible.

Grave intentions is the build-enabling notable here. But I don't know how calculations work with this node.

So which chest would give my AG the highest ES?:

- Ghostwrithe?
- Or a 100% global defense armour?

Well you probably want to be using Fleshcrafter to convert 98% its life to ES then stack life as much as possible (with grave intentions you'd need 2% additional chaos resistance on him). That means Ghostwrithe is right out, though a 100% def mod chest could still be a good idea, or maybe just Geofri's Sanctuary for zealot's oath.

One unique not typically considered for the AG would be Tukohama's Fortress since he can make use of Blood Magic to get 10% more life (that would then be converted to energy shield). Can give it to him directly or use Necromantic Aegis (the latter letting you double up on shields if you give him another one with some %ES gain on block).

Thanks for the advice, but I'm also considering a more serious Chains of Command version of the build.
In that case Ghostwrithe becomes an option again, but I don't know how to canculate its effect on ES...

Ah okay. Well the effect on ES is the same as any other conversion. "Increased maximum life" and "increased maximum energy shield" stack additively for the converted health.

Random numbers out of me bum:

1k base life
300% increased maximum life
100% increased maximum energy shield
50% of life converted to ES
20% of life gained as ES

Will result in:

2k life
3.5k ES

because:

life = (1k * (1 + 300%) * 0.5)
ES = (1k * (1 + 300% + 100%) * 0.5) + (1k * 0.2 * (1 + 300% + 100%))


So with these numbers, adding 1 base life will grant 2 total life and 3.5 ES. Adding 1 base ES will grant 2 ES.
