Righteous Fire + Death Aura support gems
I'm running Righteous Fire and Death Aura, aiming for wider AoE
The RF is socketed into the 6-linked Death's Oath. With 6 socket available fully-linked, I'm trying to figure out which support gems combination will works best. What came into my mind is: 1) Righteous Fire 2) Awakened Increased Area of Effect 3) Awakened Elemental Focus 4) Efficacy Support 5) Awakened Burning Damage 6) Awakened Empower Support any suggestion? Unfortunately, there aren't a whole of of support gems that can even support Death Aura.
Of course you start with RF - Awakened Inc AoE - Efficacy, as these are the best if you're wanting some AoE. Because DA is so big you can get away with running Conc Effect, but RF is relatively small so maybe you don't want to do that. The Secret DA Tech (tm) is to link it with Lifetap, giving it the Duration tag, and then you can use Swift Affliction for a hefty damage increase. I can't see a reason this wouldn't work with RF, but it entirely depends on whether you want to scale RF and DA equally, or if you want RF to be your main source of damage (and I think this is the best way). For equal-ish scaling, I would do: RF - A. Inc AoE - Efficacy - Lifetap - A. Swift Affliction - Your Choice (Less Duration for 20% more damage for both, or Burning Damage for just RF). For mainly RF scaling, I would do the links you have there. |

Biggest problem with combining these is they don't synergise at all, since neither have a hit component you can't convert so you just end up with really low chaos and fire splitting it all up.
I've gone all the way on both in some leagues and if you don't focus on one they both suck. Other post says what you would do focusing on the DO part but you won't get much out of the chest going the RF route. Maybe stack damage overtime/aoe clusters?, not many gems for just aoe. |

To scale DA properly, you need all 6, there is no room for RF or to split scaling into two different things. You're better off using DA (with 6 gems) and then RF inside it's own 6 link.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Indeed this won't be easy since both of them don't sync. I personally feel this build is fun to go as to spam with AoE fire DOT and chaos DOT. That way I can still do some damage either to monsters with 'immune to fire' or 'immune to chaos', while evading their attack. Since DA is activated automatically when DO is equipped, and no tool tip is available to check its damage after gems combined, any idea how high chaos DOT can be provided with gems boost? I'd like to compare with my current RF (29k DOT in the tool tip without any awakened gems and empower). Summary of gems recommendation: RF as main 1) Righteous Fire 2) Awakened Increased Area of Effect 3) Awakened Elemental Focus 4) Efficacy Support 5) Awakened Burning Damage 6) Awakened Empower Support Somewhat equal-ish RF + DA 1) Righteous Fire 2) Awakened Increased Area of Effect 3) Efficacy Support 4) Lifetap Support 5) Less Duration Support 6) Awakened Swift Affliction Support Last edited by Rounins#0780 on Aug 22, 2022, 6:01:01 AM

There is a tool you can download called path of building, it has all you need inside to find the values of what does what.
Death aura does 758.3 chaos with nothing in it if resists are 0, and most monsters will likely reduce the damage by 20-50%, it's why one or the other is the only way to make it useful. Just gems would only net you something miserly like double at best, only efficacy and increased AOE from that RF would affect it, the split gives you 3-4 times damage and that's still nothing. |

As Sherudonst has said, Path of Building (localidentity fork) is a great tool for planning builds and checking your true damage, as the in-game tooltip is basically useless, and is sometimes even misleading.
" As for end-game DA damage, I have a min-maxed build that reaches around 2-3m boss DPS, and I have seen builds that achieve up to 5-10m boss DPS with much higher damage investment. However, you shouldn't expect to reach anywhere near this with a split approach, as things like aura effect on enemies, Chaos damage, Chaos DoT Multi, etc. won't work with RF, and similar scalers for RF won't work with DA. It's best to invest in things like generic DoT multi, area damage, %damage, etc. meaning you will achieve less damage. |
