Hairy Arachnomorph pet disables Tempest Shield on return to hideout

Once I use the new Hairy Arachnomorph pet and go to a map and then back to hideout, it turns off my Tempest Shield and I no longer can enable it. The skill on the skill bar is darker and says [Skill can't be used]. Once I remove the pet I still cannot enable the skill until I go to a map, where I enable it and now returning to hideout doesn't disable the skill anymore.
