Why did they delete Overwhelming Odds?
Decided to play cleave this league. Was pretty excited to get the cleave jewel, but GGG removed it.
Why lol. Like just fucking delete skill gems from the game that you don't want people to use Last bumped on Aug 20, 2022, 2:48:34 PM

Overwhelming Odds was drop disabled in Archnemesis league, 6 months ago.
I suppose it's because of the "Cleave Hits fortify", which would have gone against the whole Fortify rework. I mean, come on - a melee non-travel skills that fortifies? Way too OP. But, hey, at least the bonus on the radius still lives on in the +2 Cleave Radius buff. Cheer up /s |

I think the removal of that jewel was absolutely fantastic and the only viable course of action from GGG. triple-thumbs-up ! ;D

threshold jewel is early version of alt quality
If threshold jewel became mandatory for that skill, it is against they will on alt build So that now they nerf the threshold jewel and disabled some that they have no idea how to rework them, and integrate some mod from the jewel back to the skill gem This is the start of forum signature: I am not a GGG employee. Threshold jewels were a failed experiment that GGG regrets and is trying to erase. Half of them have been drop disabled already and the quest reward choice removed. I'm not sure the remaining ones are safe, other than maybe skele mages. Some are pretty powerful and build defining and I don't think GGG knows how to best handle them yet.

" mage will be kept (instead of creating a new gem) but probably nerf the stat of mage Combat Focus may be (who play non-jewel one btw?) This is the start of forum signature: I am not a GGG employee. Because GGG's solution to modifiers or gear options that feel mandatory to use a skill is, instead of doing more of a rework to integrate that power into other places, they just remove the thing and leave a hole in the build (especially ones as huge as Glacial Hammer no longer having Melee Splash as a non-gem option).
Nobody liked that threshold jewels weren't just things built into the gem, but at the end of the day they did what they were supposed to do which was bring up some weaker skills to have some better built in AoE so that you are free to build damage more so that they can keep up with more modern skills. Removal of crucial jewels for skill only made the threshold jewel problem worse, not better. |

I believe the intent is, if the threshold jewel is mandatory to use the skill at all, it should be removed. If the threshold jewel isn't mandatory, but gives QoL/etc and a minor damage boost to justify the opportunity cost, it's fine.
Skeletons are fine example; mages are stronger than warriors but after the nerf not so much that you'd be foolish to use warriors at all. It's closer to what you'd expect for a jewel socket to boost your power, and you may not want it at all. Украина в моём сердце
