Ralakesh's Impatience, or how it's bound to be nerfed
Dear GGG, let's talk about Ralakesh's Impatience for a while, would you ?
For the sake of it, her's how it's getting modified coming 3.19 patch : " Let's break this item useability into several cases. " These boots provide 12% elemental resistances, 12% physical damage reduction, 120% increased critical strike chance, 12% attack/cast speed en 12% more damage. Should you not have a way to generate these charges otherwise. Getting Endurance Charges isn't that hard, thanks to Enduring Cry, Enduring Composer on a cluster jewel, Chieftain, Juggernaut or on anything that stuns through melee hits. Getting Frenzy Charges require a bit more of a dedication, in a single target scenario (mod on Body Armour, Raider, Timeless Jewel). Getting Power Charges is manageable, albeit costly, too (Occultist, mod on One Handed Weapon, some chance on block, or Power Charge on Critical Support among some others) With 3 maximum charges each, these boots become really good. They did have some use in a clunky way before, but they become much more useable. Fine. " Playing a Slayer with Masterful Form, with 3 additional maximum Frenzy Charges on tree, you now have 8 Frenzy and Endurance Charges maximum. 9 with mod on gloves, 10 with corruption on said gloves, 12 with 2 rings. Issue with such a passive ascendancy skill was to generate the charges, taking quite a while usually, especially against a single monster. Now these boots provide maximum charges quite instantly, which is really strong, but that's not all. With Maven's belt, you now retain, according to the wording on Ralakesh boots, your Brutal Charges even after moving. Sure thing, losing Endurance Charges hurt, but with 10 charges each, you now have 40% more damage and 30% chance to deal triple damage (along 40% increased attack/cast speed and 100% increased stun threshold) Considering this case, Ralakesh boots are quickly entering 'Overpowered' territory. " And here we reach the 'mandatory nerf' territory. Through Badge of the Brotherhood + Inner Conviction and some '+ Maximum Power Charges' (+1 with weapon, +2 with Malachai's Loop, +3 on tree, +1 with mod on Helmet or on Occultist/Assassin/Hierophant tree for the most accessible part), you're now getting a way to reach multipliers that render most other alternatives quite moot in comparison. With 10 maximum Power Charges, you're now getting 30% more spell damage through Inner Conviction, 40% more damage due to Frenzy Charges (which usually can't be paired with Inner Conviction but since you're not 'gaining' Frenzy Charges, it works) and 400% increased critical strike chance. And you're at this stage whenever you cast anything that is not instant, since you're stationnary, even for a fraction of a second. You can add some other fun interactions, like Willclash so to suddenly get near Spell Block capped, or Shimmeron to nearly completely negate its downside while gaining and every other alternative starts to pale in comparison. Reason being, you don't even need a way to generate them, and that happens instantly, all while providing greater boosts than usual. Basically, Ralakesh's Impatience in this circumstance makes you question your sanity using anything else if you're playing near the top side of the tree. Badge of the Brotherhood isn't an easily accessible item, sure thing, and Ralakesh boots may not be either, but having the option to use both at the same time and breaking several items' downsides at once is way, way too strong for a single slot of an item. " Lots of unique items are becoming way more interesting and useable than before, which is great. Ralakesh's Impatience is able to break too many things at once to remain in its current interaction, for the sake of the game's build diversity, item diversity and general economy of the incoming league. Unless there's something ingame that doesn't match the item's rework wording. Sorry for the lengthy post, sorry about mistakes i've inevitably made, thanks for your ... patience ! I'm gonna play a slayer with Ralakesh boots, Malachai Loop, Brotherhood, Inner Conviction, etc and a Shimmeron to blast enemies with 36-charge discharges which are bigger than the screen and do millions of damage (tentative POB estimate without area cluster jewels is 97 radius).
All I have to do is play the game with my inventory screen open and lift up the boots every time I want to move or cast. Last edited by ARealLifeCaribbeanPirate#2605 on Aug 16, 2022, 5:29:23 PM

Well, that's an other way to abuse it.
Playing Discharge this way is masochistic though. Put Arn's Anguish, and you're looking at 48% more damage from Frenzy, 36% from Power and 72% from Brutal Charges. With a base crit' chance equal to 40.6% without any stuff and base damage equal to 7668-23016 lightning, 12276-18420 fire and cold ... 32200-59856 total. Compared to a normal Discharge, due to Power and Brutal Charges applying where they shouldn't, it's equivalent to 755322-140015 total damage ; a normal Dischage being able to cast with like 10 charges total is already decent ... but that's 1/10 of that setup's damage. From a level 20 gem (double it at lvl 28) Sounds balanced, considering you don't have to really generate the charges in any way. Last edited by Iyacthu#6658 on Aug 16, 2022, 5:15:42 PM

Minimum charges cant be consumed by discharge?

" " You can equip and then unequip the boots to just have 12/12/12 charges, because you don't lose charges when your minimum changes. You probably should, but you don't. |

" Urgs, ok lol. Such things would never come to my mind, but i am a simple person (that doesnt like cheese except for sandwiches, pizza and lasagne xD (some would call it exploit even)) "Glattes Eis, ein Paradeis, für den, der gut zu tanzen weiß" - F. Nietzsche

I'm surprised that so far nobody mentioned the interaction with Kingsguard, considering that someone already edited the wiki entry:

And that's probably not an intended interaction either i guess ...

" A guild buddy of mine is actually planning on playing some chain hook with this combo, but not as a leaguestarter since these boots might be super ultra rare. Every time you attack, you instantly gain 1k life! BALANCED? |
