Steam Version for Hong Kong

It is time to raise this age old question again.

Problem: Path of Exile is not available in Steam Hong Kong region.

On player's side, we are forced to choose only from Taiwan's Garena Client and international standalone client. China client is not available in Hong Kong due to their policy (and no one want that anyways). So some of us may choose Garena version for Chinese localization but there are still a lot of us preferring the healthy economy on international client instead. Playing on the standalone client actually did not bother us until recently (quite literally 4 seconds ago) - Steam Deck.

Now, on GGG's side, I see no reason for them to continue region blocking the game from Hong Kong Steam Client. We can tell that this issue has nothing to do with Tencent since it happened way before the Chinese version is out. It is more likely other reasons, say, they made a mistake on region blocking during game launch in 2013, thinking Steam Hong Kong is bound by Chinese Government's Gaming Policy, but that's not true at all.

Suggestion: Make Path of Exile available in Steam Hong Kong region.

After some research I think you can still do that by installing the standalone client

Anyone succeeded installing the standalone version? I tried, installing the POE installer first, and then adding the non-steam game, like the method to install other EXE files, but when launching POE it just does not run.

Any tips?

Hi I eventually got it running on steam deck.

So I copied the whole directory of PoE from a PC (excluding the log and shader folder) to steam deck on desktop mode.

Then I switched back to gaming mode and use "add a game" to add the exe file and launch it from Steam. Steam will find and install whatever it needed to run the game and it works fine.

Edit: the exe file is PathOfExile_x64.exe
