Stop making most average builds need more than 100% life nodes. I'd be fine with 80% life nodes max.
140% to 160% range of life nodes required; is the build average and this average is LAME for build diversity or tree builds.
Someone may throw a rare build out that only needs 120% life, yet that's a minor example & isn't the majority. Without mentioning ES builds for lower life, you're still invested with ES then. Either way your invested with too much defense points required. For diverse build freedom. Ultimately every build starts to lean too defensively, if I have to spend more than 100% for life nodes. & I have to. I've mentioned this to people before & reply'ers said "oh you still have plenty enough points left to work on the dps side of things ". & It's simply not true for many builds. It's tech true as you have enough, tho that's not the joy or freedom of skill building & it still isn't half to half ratios for defense to dps. Just because you have 1/4th of points left for dps doesn't mean that's enough or good enough. Nor is 1/4th even half, dps & defense are suppose to be 2/4th & 2/4th. Not 1/4 & 3/4. When I mean " good enough " I don't mean is it enough dps to clear a map or boss. I mean is it good enough to plan for unique builds. & No 140% life required is not " good enough " to plan for unique builds. Its limiting. After life % you are left with half points left, then you didn't do armor, es, ress, so after that your left with only 1/4th for dps. So most builds generally ye are 50% life, 1/4th extra defense, & 1/4th is the last or only dps theme. Most builds are not half & half, as after 160% life nodes you don't have " half " of your points left over. You usually have less than that, depending on the build. By then. Also ADD MORE life nodes to nearby starter zones, if you're gonna make players need more than 120% life for a lvl 90 or 94 build. Right now players expect 160%, should be twice less than this as a average aka 80% life node average per build. So we don't have to stretch to the same spots always for life %. Ye I don't really wanna bother with reply'ers who believe we have plenty enough dps passive points. I've def spent enough time on the skill tree planner to know that 140%+ life passive nodes is stupid to get. Every time needing that much life makes the skill tree less entertaining. Ruins the freedom of the planner. So figure it out all this 1 hit nonsense, that is ruining multiple topics. This being 1 of them, as obviously you need so many life % due to 1 hits. I'd favor a POE where the average build AVERAGE only needs 80% to 100% life passives at most. Then the rest of the points are finally FREE to spend elsewhere. 100 people towns with hang out fields. People def aren't suggesting 120% or less I know that. & if you go to Reddit for your questions is gets even more outlandish than that. I got annoyed with Reddit answers for life % norms. With people saying their min. is 180% to 200%. Which 180% is like pretty much 3/4th of your freaking points. Not tech is 3/4th tho seems like. I don't want more than 100% life ever, for any build ever. Yet 100% is apparently 1 shot territory usually. Also ES is the same experience, so don't suggest ES for low life builds, same amount of points wasted. Or made to path to. Lastly lets not suggest any low life build that's rare. That's not the point. I don't want to build some destined limited build. I want to build all builds with 80% to 120% life, not just a few builds that work with that. I understand your point of view OP, if you are trying to build a weapon scaling melee build that doesn't benefit from +1 on items. And if you in addition are trying to build a physical melee build, you are shit out of luck. But that isn't because of the balance between offense and defense directly, it's because melee (with a few exceptions) is in a REAL bad spot these days, especially the physical side. All the +1 mods on items and awakened gems have made gem scaling builds FAR easier to scale than weapon scaling builds. Melee builds are more or less dead, because they are too hard to scale without close to perfect gear. Stop measuring builds based on % life. That time has past. Between spell suppression, maximum resistances, block, gain on block, armor, energy shield and evasion, there is no "required" life anymore. The game USED to be all about life. Tho most of these statements are general chat answers to the life % norm question. As for build diversity, do youuuu want to grab 140% to 160% or more life nodes? every time you plan for a build? Or some ES equivalent to that. Does that sound " diverse " or " unique " ? Seems like too many points every time for just boring life %. It also makes you plan the pathing for life % as well, which limits the builds path for every build of poe. Someone joked about 10% life. So maybe ye 80% is too low. Yet I don't find 100% low as a average. It's average for a average for how many skill points or pathing link stats passives you need to reach 100% life. Which isn't just the points you need for the life passives, its also the points to need to reach these areas too. Both. Reaching & attaining points spent for Life. Tho yes it's not half still, the average build leans to the defense side. Simply equal. As for the person mentioning melee builds being weaker, they are probably right. However the reddit users who mentioned they don't do battle without at least 180% to 220% may be talking about items added to their %. Defense determines the route. Is defense 20% more important than dps, for your average build. Yes. So the route is limited. Restricted. Bias. Overly weighed for defense.
Does having a pro account to link, grant me more passive points to spend not on life %? & rather spent on other passives with other goals? Or must every build nearly grab half of every life passive on the entire tree, which may be a overstatement or exaggeration, maybe. Tho when you build it def seems like the planner makes you grab half of every life passive on the tree, just to attain a normal 150% life. Meh. You need me to link a unique build, just to prove that their are unique builds that want to go for 100% life or 120% life, instead of 160% life? Without ES. If you believe 100% life or 120% life is too low, than you're also admitting that dps builds aren't a thing. Because it still takes a lot of passives to reach 100% 120% life. Without items. how much yyou really need is depending on you rgear
when you start getting items with hight flat life and/or %life you can get away with less life on the tree 140-160% is a good base line for sliggtly above average gear for life builds i normaly settle around 5.5k hp paired with other defences and is very reachable with 110-120% on the tree if you dont use a 2h weapon |
