How about starter hair customization & new avatar photos? & better tree format for stretched builds.

I asked for this once before & players swept it under the rugg. " Why have them use funds for this? "As if it's not important.

Well guess what. It is IMPORTANT. I don't want to play lil blonde girls or bald dudes. That eliminates 3 classes on the tree.

Then people say " get over it, just buy a helmet, is that really the reason you won't play a class? " YE IT IS! A helmet isn't good enough. I have fashion to cover the head, that's not good enough. Your still playing a char with a avatar party photo representing a hair color you never rock in any game ever. I don't give a hoot if Diablo 2 had non edited starter customization for face models. Even mobile rpg's have better starter class customization, for hair or face.

" Just play that build on another class " No. It takes too many nodes to stretch around the tree, your wasting like 20 more passive nodes many of the times to reach unique locations on the passive tree. With a unique class build.

If anything they should give +10 points to people who waste 20+ points trying to path to the other side of the board. The reason the tree isn't all that, as people say it is. "Unique builds cost too many travel node links". Or else all builds are doomed to be limited to their tiny starter regions only. Which is lame.

More points given to " stretch " builds. Like if you want a melee axe using witch for example, you waste 20 points trying to path there. Almost never works out for a good build to waste all these points.

So I suppose this topic isn't just about hair customization, it's also about wanting to use the classes with the hair color you like " brown / black hair " for unique builds, tho aren't able to, as they waste too many pathing points.

Not to mention the Scion has the mid area for hybrid builds & Ranger has some ascendary I want to use. Tho the Ranger looks like a lesbian butch aunt & I don't want to play that.

The Templar is bald & actually I'm trying to regrow my hair super long in real life by eating veggies, so trying to represent the opposite as a theme. The long hair elf. I've seen reply'ers joke about not playing Templar as they may be Ageist, tho I'd be more fine playing a older char if they didn't look x10 older by also being bald. Templar dude's lucky if he has enough nutrition to even pick up that mace. Other than that, I've heard of some players don't play Barbarian due to him being too blocky buff, so maybe athletic leaner barbarian too. Alternative starter templates too (stronger than templar, yet a less blocky option perhaps, for those proffered players)

As for Scion / Ranger, YE WHAT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO PLAY LIL BLONDE GIRLS? Gosh am I crazy? They are off limits, makes me seem like im playing some wack relatives char. Also why the heck did the devs make TWO of them?! Why 2 blonde girls, wth is that about? 1 is more than enough if limited. I don't need new genders, how about a Scion with red hair or something & red hair template sig.

Figure it out, helmets aren't gonna be good enough. I'll play Templar reluctantly. Tho I still won't play Scion or Ranger till they fix this & yes reply'ers won't offer solid advice for fixing this, they'll brush it over. Still won't play these 2 till something else. I don't want to play lil blonde girls!! NO. Even if they fix the hair customization, they'd need to fix the party avatar too, as I won't be represented there as a blonde girl either.

SO that leads to the 2nd point, if I want a girl char I have to use Witch & trying to path across the whole tree is meh. A melee dueal wield or axe witch for example. Meh. Give +10 node extra points to anyone who spends 24+ points used on pathing across the tree to the other side. Or else the skill tree needs to allow classes to jump to the other side of the tree, without needing to link there. Are all " good builds " stuck around their starter tree zones, to not waste travel link points? It seems good builds waste 14 - 20 on passive stat nodes & bad builds waste 20 - 35 passive node travel links. So traveling unique tree builds are a lie. Or else no builds get to. No builds get to path to the other side of the tree, without risking ruining their build, by wasting too many link points on traveling to the other side of the board.

there was a time where we didnt need to be hyper efficient with our builds.

melee witches would definitely be weaker but could be a thing.

but with all the power creep we have now, wasting even 12 passive points for travelling is already huge.

also there used to be a time there were no ascendancy classes. the classes kinda force you to choose a proper class if you want to play a certain way.

so in any case you cant run from using a specific character model if you want to play a viable end game build.

like it or hate it, POE went the way of giving class specific models. this makes classes have identity. if you do a ranger cosplay, people would immediately know if you're sporting a blonde and short haircut.

i think GGG might be giving players mtx's to change the character model outlook but if that ever happens, it would be after poe2.

either way.. just dont get your hopes up.

Runescape has hair color options lol. How much money does GGG need for this feature. Neopets had hair color options, jk.

& ye won't get my hopes ready. It's not like they have to fire the voice actors for simple hair color options.

This is like the 100th example of why staying with D2's design forever to the future, isn't advised. Like ye keep some key D2 elements, tho make everything else expanded & fresh. & perhaps not like D2 at all for some major aspects of POE. For the sake of a better game than a 1990's game.

its just a waste of time in a top down zoomed out game where 99.9999% of characters have a helmet on and cant see their hair within the first few minutes of being created.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
Portraits are strangely overlooked among all kinds of MTX. They have added cosmetic slots like ring or hip or charges skin, came up with the idea of selling mouse pointers, yet no portraits for 10 years (afaik).

One would think portrait would be easiest kind of MTX to make, especially considering how retro some of the current ones look in 2022. And keeping class/ascendancy theme recognizable is not that hard.
