Controller scheme improvement targeted at the steam deck
|
Hey!
I've really been enjoying playing path of exile on the steam deck so far, big thanks for finally adding controller support and allowing a more relaxed way to play. The trackpads are right there on the steam deck and cannot do anything too useful at this point. They could however be extremely useful for inventory management, which is kind of cumbersome on controllers. This is an idea I picked up from playing grim dawn and seeing how the mouse-keyboard interchangeability is solved there. I could do the following in grim dawn: 1. Have my deck trackpad act as a mouse 2. Hover over an item in my inventory and then select an action with the ABXY buttons on the controller as normal. I'm sure there are technical as well as business reasons to not allow kb/mouse and controller inputs in parallel. However the cursor can already be manipulated and used to interact with options in controller mode. It seems like a small but significant compromise to allow the mouse cursor to focus items and inventory slots to then use the controller inputs to further interact with the items. This would allow much easier and faster interaction with items on the steam deck and why not elsewhere too. I hope you consider this idea, thanks! Last bumped on Jun 15, 2022, 8:23:26 PM
