How do you like the direction POE took since the investment of Tencent?

Quick reminder, Chinese company Tencent bought many stakes of GGG during May 2018, so around patch 3.2.0 between Bestiary and Incursion league! How you feeling about the direction of the game since then?

I highly doubt that have anything to do with what we have now. Some of the best leagues we got was after that and some of the worst... many many worst.
It's all GGG, Tencent has zero involvement with this game. 3.17 was great. 3.18 is garbage.
Do you know any game that got better after tencent? the guys killed the MOBA genre. annihilated blizzard and acxtivision by brende, think of someone capable of killing diablo and warcraft. They practically ended up with Ubi, even BETESDA... Chinese money is good in the pockets for a while but it doesn't bear long-lived fruits, they killed the biggest franchises in games

Pretty sure Tencent wanted to take Path of Exile into a market where they could heavily monetize the game. If they have any effect on the game it would be through that.

1. Game's been a lot more stable with the new APIs.
2. 3.17 was awesome, the atlas changes this patch are even better.
3. Archnem is annoying at times, but it's just something to get used to. Need to adjust build for dealing with dot damage, get chaos res etc.
4. I haven't quite figured out what makes sentinel tick, the rewards mostly seem underwhelming, but I haven't exactly equipped top of the line sentinels, either.
5. Essence mobs can be too strong with archnem mods. Could perhaps do with a nerf to their stat gain from essences.

Overall, I'm quite ok with where we are headed. I have no clue what's Tencent's contribution to these changes. I'd wager it's GGG calling the shots, still. Then again, I'm not conspiratorially oriented enough to pretend I have inside information ..

It's been amazing.

The game has never been in a better state. It's just constant upgrades and improvements every 3 months. Constant end-game upgrades. New content, new bosses, new everything.

There have obviously been a few hiccups along the way like what we are experiencing now with rare mobs... but seriously, that's one mistake among hundreds of amazing things.

The game just keeps getting better and better.

POE 2 is just going to be insanely good.
I remember ggg quadrupling monster health in metamorph and my builds I used to do started hitting like wet noodles against new content. The bow archetype being significantly worse than it used to be overall, the grind time to make a decent build increased exponentially etc. I played 2 whole leagues since metamorph and one of them left a sour taste in my mouth. A lot of skills are irremediable dumpster tier right now.
Even with all the marketing, it seems like the playerbase is slowly going away. I genuinely think poe is dying long term and rightfully so.
I think that main developers (owners) got a LOT OF money from that transaction that they stop caring about the quality of game or player retention, they pursue their "vision" now. Tencent has nothing to do with this recent game decline.
Is it really Tencent though? Doubt that Tencent as a share holder is interested in 50% player drop after the first week of a new league because of poor balance decisions. So I am afraid that Chris and his vision is in control of direction and not Tencent.

Funny how it all went downhill starting with Expedition, and everyone who has been playing for a longer time clearly knows why.
