Xesht-Ula challenge awarded on despawn, not kill

While hunting for chayula in maps for the other part of the breach challenge we ran into xesht-ula. We definitely did not kill him, barely doing 10% damage to him. When the breach closed we were awarded wit the xesht-ula "defeat" achievement.
I think Mr Xesht would be disappointed for this to be considered a defeat.
