Cobra Lash and Pierce

I am not sure if this is a bug or an intended mechanic.

Cobra Lash is supposed to chain up to four times. I noticed when I took placed two skill points into the Pierce and Piercing shots talent is lost this ability. Now the projectile fires in a straight line piercing multiple enemies but loosing its ability to bounce back and forth between enemies.
