Wearing Doryani's Prototype. Can only BARELY tank a single Lightning Mirage

Am very frustrated as I have worked hard on this build to try and make it reasonably powerful.

I have a total of 61000 Armour, and, admittedly, only 4700 life; which I could pump up to about 5200 with the right jewel. POB says the maximum hit I can take, from lightning, is 58,895 (with the enemy monster as Boss: Sirus).

The archnemesis nova totems, the tentacle lightning eater mobs, and lightning mirage nearly all kill me in one shot. What gives? Am I lacking, does Doryani's just suck, or are mobs super over tuned in this patch?

GGG: Asking as someone who has spent more than just a couple of hundred dollars on your game, when will you get balance correct?

Doryani's prototype only protects you from lightning damage hits based on your armor. New mods like Mana Siphon are lightning damage over time so they go straight to your -2/3/400 lightning resist, the unique is bricked in this version of the game.

So much for our previous builds will all work.

Same situation if you rely on flask uptime for pathfinder, coruscating elixir, or ward flask and heartbound loop. Your build will randomly die to unavoidable mobs. This is the case for almost any build that had to avoid certain map mods, because we've had that choice taken away from us and the worst mods thrust into every corner of the game.

The game is too big for GGG to actually balance, they rely on data and player feedback.

Unfortunately this change unless reverted will likely take years to balance.

They gradually polished and improved past league mechanics over the last 8 years. Tweaks every patch to fix edge cases, bugs, bad mob affix interactions, number tweaks. And these systems were built from the ground up to make the old rare monsters provide a challenge.


Combining old league mechanics and new archnemesis mods creates tons of extreme difficulty spikes or entirely unwinnable situations with no counterplay.

They basically have to rebalance every league mechanic from scratch because they didn't consider the impact changing rares would actually have on the game.

I'm sure uber uber bosses and the league mechanic got testing. Mapping feels okay if you're just logging in on a pre-geared standard character. Maybe they were told to focus on "new additions" and to leave out any feedback for changes to past league mechanics. Because they clearly gor zero attention.

Unless entry to midlevel league content is supposed to spike harder than pinnacle atlas bosses?

If anyone at GGG is actually reading this, for the love of the game, scrap this version of archnemesis for new league and start over. Have it ready to ship with PoE 2 when its had more time in the oven first. At least then we will need rediscover builds from scratch in the new system, with new tools to overcome these currently unwinnable situations.
