Lightning Strike work with 2H Sword?

I haven't played Lightning Strike since closed beta. So I decided to give it a go again this league. 'Back in the day' I remember using a 2H weapon with the skill. But when I try using a 2H now it disables the skill. The skill has changed a lot since I last used it, but I don't see anything on the gem that says it only work with 1H weapons. Am I missing something here?
