Where do you get your builds?

I'm pretty new and have only played 1 build in archnemesis. In sentinel i want to try something new.

So I was wondering where you guys get your builds?

Back in the past from the forums.

But nowdays people are capitalizing on the work they are doing to build something and they are pushing content for youtube .

Some of the content creators are updating builds on forums, some of them don't, and some of them don't even put them on forums.

So it's better to watch a youtube content creator, because most of them are pushing videos like "5 builds that you can safely league start in x league", "most insane build 3 days into x league" and so on.

100% home grown in my case but if you want advice OP i'd go to youtube and watch videos with a fairly cynical eye.

Once you get a feel for whose builds you can trust or who fits your playstyle its pretty easy to find suggestions but there are pitfalls out there. You can always ask for help here if you think a PoB looks shady or something it doesn't take long to strip a PoB to its actual values.

I find YouTube is great for getting inspiration and ideas... but there is a lack of Q&A and discussion.

Forums are great because there are lots of people playing each build and people ask and answer questions, share tips and strategies, and problem-solve together etc. Far more newbie friendly imo because you can ask questions and get help.

You will find that many YouTubers have mirror-tier gear so it "looks easy"... but in reality 90% of people can't hit that level. When looking at a forum guide, you can see how others are progressing and the challenges they face and how "realistic" the build is.

So in summary:
- YouTube for getting inspiration and general build idea
- Find the build on a forum (if possible) where you can ask questions and see other peoples progress/challenges/success etc. Particularly if you are new, being able to ask questions and get feedback via many on the forums is very useful.

Forum/YouTube (especially the niche ones, from random yt video that pops up in recommeded)

If I want to play something new then imagination. Usually around lv 90 I'll have a look at poe.ninja and see how the hardouts are playing said skill/item for optimisation.

I pick a starting skill, and fit an ascendancy to it and wing it until I find or craft a particularly nice item or what we call "build defining". Then I shop about for a build that uses that. There's a ton of builds that will get you through white and yellow maps without any investment at all.
