Playing PoE on a Ryzen 5600G APU
Hey guys, I'm planning on buying a Ryzen 5600G APU PC next week, until I can get some money for a decent GPU.
I was wondering if any of you has this already and know how it fares or can test playing the game with a lot of stuff going on, specifically Simulacrum/High density maps. Doesn't really have to be 1080p, it can be 720p aswell. Last edited by returnofsnow#5524 on Apr 23, 2022, 2:39:36 AM Last bumped on Apr 25, 2022, 12:30:54 AM

I am able to play all content using my old laptop with a GeForce MX 250. Playing high-density maps and simulacrum is possible as long as I limit framerates and set every graphic setting to the minimum possible.

" I see. Mine is a new build with decent RAM speed (3600 MHz CL16) and CPU so I think it should perform similarly as it's for desktop. Also will get an aftermarket CPU cooler to keep it from throttling or anything. Thanks! Last edited by returnofsnow#5524 on Apr 23, 2022, 6:05:29 PM

there are some reviews on youtube, if you are not in a hurry new gen is coming out soon with what looks like a considerable upgrade in terms of integrated graphics. price will likely be higher but still not as high as buying a half decent GPU.
AMD integrated procesors have the habit of eating the ram so dont be cheap with it self found league fan http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/324242/page/1 Last edited by caboom#7201 on Apr 23, 2022, 6:21:35 PM

" I already bought the build and maybe next month or the other I will get a RX 6600 / 6600 XT depending on the prices. The CPU is really good anyway and can pair up with a RTX 3080 even. So it should be fine for couple years. I saw that the new GPUs are pretty good but I can't really wait until next year. Rather get an 6500 XT now and upgrade later but that'd be abit of waste of money, could just buy an 6600 one month later and be set for Ultra/High 1080p gaming. |

" Built this over the winter: Ryzen 5900 ASUS ROG Dark hero VIII mobo 64 gb Corsair somethingorother clocked to 5120 MHz 1tb M2 SSD RX6600 XT 8gb GDDR6 Samsung P2370 1920 x 1100 HDMI Win10 Pro blah de blah DX11 -> DX12 So far: Pure chayula = no stutter. Normally juiced map with eater/exarch popups, beyonders, and legions: No stutter. Quite surprised at this because in the past, with my old rig, the moment the first conqueror pack popped up and the big flashbang of the conqueror dropping in to trash talk you, the fps went to minus 1 and more often than not dumped me on the login screen. Here's where the stutter is on the aforementioned NEW system: a) Harbies. For some reason, several extra harbies generate more stutter and CPU demand than an entire 5-way. When you're in a leeching party and 5/6 computers crash to desktop during a juiced Tower as soon as the harbies appear onscreen of the carry and start to process, you know it's not just "your potato". b) Sims. Something about the fog just absolutely destroys graphics cards. It's not the mob density, we've covered that with 5-ways and beyonders. It's the fog or some other mechanic related to the way delirium affects calcs. A 60% deli map with too many surviving deli monsters also chugs badly. Fog inside incursions is especially noxious - disable temporal dislocation effect in the Options>Display menu if you're going to run a lot of foggy alvas. c) Blighted and blight-ravaged maps. I believe this can be chalked up to simply WAY too many surviving entities off screen. Unless you have the deeps to keep your loaded set clear, don't invite a buncha ppl into them. Or if you do, make sure they can keep their part of the map clear between waves. [19:36]#Mirror_stacking_clown: try smoke ganja every day for 10 years and do memory game

I played PoE on a 3000 series AMD APU.
I had to put all setting to minimum AND set to 720p, but it played. The 5000 series have MUCH stronger graphics, so you should be fine. | |
Yeah, PoE is fairly demanding lol. But it's just the bad optimization mostly, even if they've come a far way from what it once was it's still quite terrible.
Going to wait for 6600 or 6600 XT until the prices settle a little bit. Until then the iGPU will pretty much carry me at 720p/1080p. It's going to be night and day difference over my actual build anyway, I'm using a 2 core 4 threads CPU i5-7200U and GTX 950M and I managed to play PoE on it somehow. When I bought it 5-6 years ago PoE was running fine on it. It was around Harbinger league. |
