"Chance to Avoid Elemental Ailments" shields suffix good or bad?

Is "Chance to Avoid Elemental Ailments" considered to be a good suffix or just a filler?

of Fortitude 57 (26–30)% chance to Avoid Elemental Ailments

It depends on whether you have another source of that stat and can reach full uptime with this. If this suffix gets you to 100% and you have full uptime, it is pretty useful because enemies cannot inflict elemental ailments on you.

If it is the only source of that stat and / or you do not have full uptime, it is much less useful because you could still die to various ailments by being unlucky.

I would personally prefer my ailment immunity not to come from flasks, but if you have a way to actually guarantee 100% uptime, it is worth considering.

bad for those who don't

those who need it aim for 100% avoidance. me for example this league



if you ask about market demand, it depends on what "meta" sheeple actually follow

Nice to know about 100%, thanks. So, mostly trash but sometimes not.

Not for market, I am ssf and making filter for "id and drop" to at least have several good affixes before looking at item.

Shields turned out to have a lot of good suffixes

% Chance to Block
% additional Physical Damage Reduction
% chance to Suppress Spell Damage
% to maximum Resistance




Similar question, "% faster start of Energy Shield Recharge" on shields is useless right?
You only get -1 second max for starting which hardly do anything for your surviving when it matters.

Str and Dex have such a strong equivalent (Physical Damage Reduction and Suppress Spell Damage) but Int seems to be a disappointment.

faster start is great for bossing, if you stack enough you get hit and start recharge almost immediately

this fact makes me sad because GGG removed it from the most accessible gear slot... ring prefixes

ailment immunity is one of the most powerful defenses in the entire game, so it is certainly not trash. Its just that you need to reach 100% or its not reliable.
