Gluttonous Tide - a garbage unique that had great potential

I've spent half of the league trying to figure out a way to make this bow work in endgame. By endgame I mean actual endgame, not just clearing t16 maps.

I have made multiple builds, investing from 30 to 100ex into each one of them. None of them - listed below - have worked:

- poison (TR, SA, converted from other damage type e.g. lightning)
- TS
- Storm Rain

All of these setups should benefit greatly from having a lot of extra projectiles, but sadly... the loss of frenzy charges outweighs the benefit of having those bonus arrows.

With poison the stacks were garbage. Sure, you could stack a lot of them quite fast, but the posion DPS was meh.

With tornado shot you would almost constantly fire a gazillion arrows, but their damage was so low that a great clearing ability was turned into trash.



Out of all of them, Storm Rain seemed to have the most potential. 5 base arrows with GMP, one extra from quiver, 2 from Dying Sun and 8 from consumed charges. That's 16 arrows fired every attack. The most effective setup with Raider ended up having 16x (over) 5 attacks per second, resulting in ~90 arrows on the ground with very little AOE for more overlap.

Even with all that, the damage was just not there, and the skill itself isn't the best for clearing packs.

The base stats of the bow are just too weak to be effective. Mediocre attack speed, crit chance and nothing really special going for it EXCEPT the frenzy charge gimmick that clearly doesn't work.

What the bow really needs is some extra lines of modifiers that give benefits for "x" duration per consumed frenzy charge to cover for what ends up being high investment into actually not having any frenzy charges up.

Example:
2% more damage and attack speed per frenzy charge lost recently.


In conclusion - don't bother with the bow in its current state. GGG once again showed that they have cool and funky ideas for a unique item, but can't execute it right to be an actually good item.
Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris.

yes, its doomed to be trash because if you are investing into frenzy charges, just using the damn charges is gonna be way better than the arrows. what could fix it is if it instead consumed the charges on attack, which would allow you to utilize the power of the charges in the actual attack
