Primal Rex taking 2 instead of 1 and killing both

So Primal Rex seeds state they sacrifice up to half a stack to give between 0 and 2.

When I put in 2 Abandoned Wealth, it should take up to half (0-1) and then give 0 to 2 back. Why did it take both of the Abandoned Wealths instead of only one (and deleting both of them).

A stack should be referencing how many cards I put in, not the deck size right? I'm just not understanding why it sacrificed both cards and not just one.

not a bug, you just don't understand how it works(say Hi to POE wording)

up to half a stack is of a full stack
so if a full stack is 5 it can take up to, if its 6 up to 3, etc...

and just on case... it rolls between zero and double.
