Precise Technique Not Working With TR/DoT

---

Confirmed.

Precise Technique keystone doesn't work with Toxic Rain's DoT as it should.

---

Character: Shadow, Lvl28

Stats: 700+ accuracy rate, with 442 HP.

Acc Rating Sources Taken: Precision Aura Lvl7, "100+ Acc Rating Per Green Socket on Bow" mastery (6L Quillrain /w 4 Green), 248 DEX

HP Sources Taken: None

---

Possible Reasons:

Only 2 Reasons I can think of.

One reason is that the Keystone is meant to say:

"40% more Attack Damage with HITS if Accuracy Rating is higher then Maximum Life. Never deal Critical Strikes."

If the first reason is the case, description needs to be updated/changed to it's proper meaning.

If the first reason is NOT the case, then it's a mechanic issue. It will need to be patched, since both the Hit and DoT of Toxic Rain is indeed considered an "Attack".

DoTs are NOT considered attack damage.

Not a bug.

If this was the case, TR's DoT wouldnt benefit from Vicious Projectiles as an Attack. Which is why Vicious Projectiles doesnt work with say Fireball + Battlemage/Physical Damage; even though it's a Projectile Tag.

Secondly, TR's DoT would only benefit from things that dont contain the "Attack" Tag such as Efficacy, Void Manipulation, etc only.

A Skill must contain the appropriate tags to gain that multiplier, which TR is on both accounts.

The only DoTs in the game that aren't counted as an attack or spell, is Corrupting Fever, Herald of Ash, and Death's Oath.

"Attack Damage" is specifically only with hits.

Vicious Projectiles works with Toxic Rain's damage over time because it specifically says "Supported Skills deal (30–49)% more Chaos Damage over Time"

The line that says "Supported Skills deal (30–49)% more Physical Projectile Attack Damage" doesn't affect the damage over time portion of Toxic Rain (I mean, it wouldn't anyway, since the damage over time is chaos damage and not physical damage, but still).

No, it shoudln't. Attack damage modifiers doesn't affect DoT.

The are 4 kinds of damage:
- Attack Damage
- Spell Damage
- Secondary Damage
- Damage Over Time

Any damage belongs to one of these kinds. First three are inherently hit related. The fourth is what you need.

"Attack Damage with Hits" would be redundant wording.
