Does Essence of Horror helm modifier NOT apply to minions?

Hi everyone,

I've been playing minions for a while now, and every league I try to craft a 'mirror-tier' Bone Helmet that uses to get the modifier "Socketed gems deal 30% more elemental damage". The finished helm would look something like this (this helm belongs to GhazzyTV).

However, I have recently stumbled upon a handful of forum posts and other individuals claiming that this modifier does not, in fact, apply to socketed minion gems in the same way that the other modifiers do. More specifically, the claim is that if you are using Skeleton Mages, the Dead Reckoning jewel enabling the skill somehow makes this modifier not apply to your mages.

Does anyone have any information about this? Would love to clarify this.

You should be able to test this by socketing Summon Skitterbots, Infernal Legion, and Elemental Focus. If necessary, add Meat Shield to make sure they do not wander too much.

Then, all you need to do is find an enemy that is easy to observe and record a few kills both with the mod and without it. Make sure that there is no other difference to your gear or where they are socketed (do not test this with a full pseudo link helmet but rather one that has no relevant damage mod for minions and one that only has the essence mod and no other relevant mods).

If the time to kill changes between having that mod and not having it, it works. If the time to kill is identical, it does not.

Edit: If there are minions that have 0 variance for their damage, you can also measure hits to kill instead. I am not an expert on minions, so I am unaware whether such minions exist.

The only time it does not work is if you are using minions that do not deal elemental damage in the first place (like zombies or melee skeletons).

Unless your examples have any phys to ele conversion...
