What is an elemental skill?

Does a non-elemental skill become elemental with a elemental support? Or is it only active skills with some sort of elemental tag?

elemental refers to Fire, Lightning, and Cold. if a skill gem does not have one of these 3 tags, it is not an elemental skill.


what item/passive are you seeing that is referring to 'elemental skills'?

I had this misconception long time ago, when I thought that linking Spell Totem to Righteous Fire added a "Duration" tag to Righteous Fire, hence why you can then link it with (old) Swift Affliction.

Turns out tags of Skill Gems can't be changed in any way, in the end. Supporting a Heavy Strike with a Hypotermia does not turn that Heavy Strike into a Cold skill, or an Elemental Skill.

As Thror2k5 suggested, an Elemental Skill is an Active skill that has at least one of the following tags on it when you buy it from Lilly Roth (or any vendor) : Fire, Cold, Lightning.
