Game "freezing" with increasing latency, then catches up, repeatedly

Hello, everyone.

I need help.
My game randomly freezes, at least a couple times every map. Then it speeds up to catch up, displaying all actions taken at a fraction of the time.
This usually means I die.

It lasts upwards of 10 minutes at times, but often lasts just under a minute.

I made a gif of the problem, https://imgur.com/a/14tXtcV.

I ran Win MTR twice to get some readings, yesterday.

This was started during a freeze spike.

I already tried the clearing suggested on the technical support (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3072628).

So I am also having this issue but mine will sometimes be fine and then other times be so bad as to disconnect me from the server all together. I have run winmtr and found that I am having packet loss of around 20% when doing it against the last instance server I connected to.

Contacted my ISP and they aren't finding any packet loss nor any issues on their end. Restarted my router/modem multiple times, replaced ethernet cable and restarted my machine multiple times. I tested winmtr on two different machines with same results on both.

Heck my latency would just drive to 40-50k before it would rubber band back to normal for a few seconds and then skyrocket again.

No setting changes in game seem to fix it and it is only with PoE that I am experiencing this. Just started yesterday 2-22-2022.
New find: connected to my work VPN the latency spikes seem to disappear.
I Have the same problem as well since i came to the UK. I thought i could be something to do with my internet but i dont have any lantency isues with any other games even the more lag sensitive ones seem to have a steady and low latency. I tried to use the London gateway but as soon as get in the game the latency jsut starts climbing into the thousands adn it does not stop. On the Amsterdam gatway( the one i was previously using) oddly lets me walk around in the act towns and my hideout but as soon as i open a map the samme thing happens and it just keeps ramping up. If anyone can give any advice on how this issue can be fixed please do.

hmm, well then it sounds like you just confirmed a local ISP issue since when you use VPN you get a new trafic route on the internet....
For me it only happens after 7pm GMT+8 yesterday and today. During other hours the game seems to be buttery smooth.

then either a server capacity problem or ISP peering congestion....
hey is there any solution to this other than connecting to a vpn? this is really annoying.
