Maim appears to either not trigger or has no indicator of any kind.
I'm using Zombies and Skeletons to test with the Maim Support gem, as it says maim supports both. I'm looking for indicators of both the in-built 30% movement speed debuff and the increased physical damage taken, which I'd assume should be the same indicator and, as usual, be up to the player to work out the source and what Maim-dependent effects are actually in play.
I've looked for an indicator everywhere I can think of. Primarily, I thought it would likely be above a maimed enemy's head (like the white starburst indicator when blinded) or might show up when mousing over an affected enemy next to the little square ailment% indicators. Further, I can't even find any sign an indicator exists by looking in image searches/both wikis/PoEDB. Below I've outlined possible ideas as to what's wrong and tested in varying scenarios to limit possible causes of interference. >> Ideas I had were: 1) Might be an issue supporting minions in 3.17. 2) It's applying but not showing up... obviously this would be an issue. 3) Maybe there's a damage threshold like with chill/shock/etc. -- The gem doesn't indicate any threshold and neither does the wiki or anything else I can find on the internet. Just flat "30% chance to maim on hit" which should easily apply multiple times in any scenario, regardless of damage done, after hitting hundreds of enemies. -- For comparison, hinder appears to be identical in age and function, but caused by spell damage, and also has no visual indicators I can find online (but I have not tested this in-game). I only know that indicators exist in the debuff bar (upper-left) when I'm maimed or hindered, but have no idea how to see this on enemies. >>Testing + Screenshots/Bug Reports: << SHORT VERSION: >> I've tested with high-level 1L skeletons in Act 9 and brand new char level 1 zombies in Act 1 and neither show any indication Maim is applied. Per the gem text and even my threshold theory at least one, if not both, scenarios should be applying Maim after hundreds of hits. I tested against enemies from basic to magic/rare packs to unique enemies with no signs of any indicator seen. << DETAILS + BUG REPORTS/SCREENSHOTS: >> To try to test the threshold theory in two scenarios, I ran level 17 1-link skeletons on Act 9's Blood Aqueduct with no damage enhancements so they could get a few big-enough hits off (to meet a hypothetical damage threshold) without killing everything before I could screenshot it. Test 1: https://ibb.co/6g3qzrK Test 2: https://ibb.co/R47f45d I also tried with a brand-new level 8 char (earliest you can use Maim Support) with level 1 zombies in Act 1, as this should be an idea scenario for testing without other mitigating/complicating factors. Ignore the missing bug report on one of them... they were taken seconds apart. The important part is that again, there were no indicators on mouse-over or above the enemies or anywhere else no matter what type of enemy was hit and how big of a hit was dealt. Test 3: https://ibb.co/313zn5B Test 4: https://ibb.co/twRhC0F >> If there is no indicator: I'd recommend it be above the enemy's head like the blind indicator. I wouldn't dare to make recommendations on the art style, just that it's hopefully relatively unique for ID and documented on the wiki :-). Thanks! Last bumped on Feb 16, 2022, 10:05:45 AM

Wow... that's... unbelievably hard to see even in a still. Not even sure how I'd tell that apart from a shadow in most cases. But thanks.
I'll still recommend to anyone from GGG that it be made a little more obvious, though I guess at least now I know it's triggering. |
