Added lightning support and + 1 to all lightning gems.
Hello,
I hope this is the correct section to post about my problem, if not feel free to move it around. I'm playing a lightning character, and as such I'm using an "added lightning damage" gem. Having bought an amulet with the "+ 1 to level of all lightning skill gems", which correctly applies to other lightning skill gems on my character (Spark, lightning golem, sigil of power, orb of storms), I'm surprised to see that my "added lightning damage" remains unaffected. First I thought this was maybe not correctly displayed, but after a deco / reco it seems that it is simply not taken into account. Is it possible to check this out please ? (No urgent matter) Thank you very much ! Last bumped on Feb 14, 2022, 9:34:35 AM

" There are basically two types of gems; Skill gems and Support gems. Added Lightning Support Gem is a support gem, therefore not affected by your amulet's "+1 to level of all lightning skill gems". This interaction is the same for all of these types of mods. Hope this helps. GL and HF! Edit: Yes, this sub-forum is exactly the place to pose these types of questions :) 17/04/2021 https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3082616/page/1 "We tell people that Path of Exile league starts are a fair playing field for everyone, and we need to actually make sure that is the reality." A BLATANT LIE by the HMFIIC. Perhaps GGG should consider a leadership change. Last edited by Bjorn_Angannon#7300 on Feb 14, 2022, 6:20:59 AM

Thank you,
yes that totally makes sense, I think I misread "all lightning skill gems" for "all lightning gems" which isn't quite the same. My bad, thank you for your answer ! |

The only current ways to up support gems is either the modifier "+1 to socketed gems" or if the support shares a tag with things like "+2 to socketed AoE gems" (there's other variants on this too). If you have a weapon like a staff, you can also get things like "+1 to socketed lightning gems."

" There is also a veiled (and thus later craftable) modifier to socketed support gems on weapons and an influenced modifier to socketed support gems. I think it might be available from both Elder and Redeemer, but I cannot be sure; I always look up these things when they are relevant to me anyway. Also, Faceted Fossils can add a modifier that grants a gem level to socketed gems based on their highest attribute requirement. But crafting an item like that is quite expensive. In general, there is no global modifier that affects the level of support gems on another item however as far as I am aware. |
