Avarious reward - Death of Purity
Has something changed with Avarious reward for the Death of Purity quest.
That is one of those quest i did not validate for a long time with my SSF characters (expect when they needed those treshold jewels for their build) and when i came back to one today, i have only the choice between 3 rare jewels (isntead the treshold ones i remembered) What happened to it, has it been changed? " Other threshold jewels are still available as regular drops, though some have been nerfed (you can check the relevant section of the patch notes if you are interested in more details. |

" I looked it up on wiki, yep :( worst then what i thought. Now i have half-pair-up jewels (where i only got one of them), like the winter burial and the long winter, so never will be able to do those builds on my ssf ... sad, sad. if i know it was comming i would have completed at least one of them (like the hammer, that seemed fun to do) Will they come back one day, why have they been removed? I really liked the idea of them. (sorry if it was "announced" in a twitch/twitter/facebook, i just come and go and play whenever i think of poe, can not follow all different announcing things) |

It was mentioned in the patch notes that were released a week before the league start.
The idea behind threshold jewels was to provide a way to change the skill behaviour into something different, but what these jewels did was adding power that became mandatory for the skills to be used. Since they did not meet the design goals, they were removed and the skills were buffed in compensation, though not necessarily enough. I have seen quite a few people complain about Glacial Hammer, though Frostbolt and Freezing Pulse seemed to have been viewed as decently even after the removal of the jewels. |

" Well that is understandable, however does that mean then that the few gems, i managed to aquire will yield to a superior build for those skills? I have a pair of zombie jewels for example, will it be too "OP"? |

It is quite possible that a build using legacy items becomes more powerful than one that uses only the items that can currently drop, but this is nothing new or restricted to threshold jewels.
Unlike the more recent removal of threshold jewels, Violent Dead has been removed in 3.8 however. |
