How illegal cheating in Path of Exile (and games in general) takes place
sirgog presentation on this - https://youtu.be/ZpYPxHhBT3c (13 mins)
Disclaimer:- This is NOT a how-to guide for cheating at the game, so don't bother clicking if that's what you're after. No specific sites or sources are named or linked. It also ofc doesn't endorse doing so - the title of the video alone will make that pretty clear. It does however cover what the most common cheats and scams (from scummy businesses, not merely another playing trying to snipe your items or something) that take place in the game are, and what the businesses that do this are like. It also, interestingly, covers what DOESN'T seem to happen much in this game, but is seen in other games out there (Eve Online mostly, but also other titles like WoW or Archeage). Some of this stuff may be well known to longtime players, but newer players may not know any better. The vid is especially good for them. Though some of it, like getting innocent folk wrongly banned, was new even to me Last bumped on Feb 14, 2022, 10:50:19 PM

I think you mean immoral, not illegal. You can "cheat" and not break any laws, only policies. You can be banned from a game, but you can't be arrested …

" Common parlance has a much broader definition of illegal beyond "criminal". Anything against the rules is often referred to as illegal ("illegal formation" in American football, off the top of my head). RMT is certainly willful breach of contract, which might, in fact, be criminal in some jurisdictions, even if it would be unlikely to be prosecuted. I'd say there's more justification for calling it "illegal" than "immoral", which is very much a subjective judgement. |

" Illegal, immoral, whatever you want to call it. I put that in the title only so people didn't think this was about the people doing 6-link scams and stuff. Illegal communicates that this is about stuff that breaches the game's ToS far more effectively than calling it immoral. Even a 6-link switch is 'immoral'. |

Not really sure what the point is. All this points out is that there are human beings playing this game with you. If you choose to interact with them, that's your choice.

" If you are a lawyer, judge, police officer, criminal, priest, philosopher, game company, or cheater then the distinction between the two words is critical. |
