Cast When Stunned Is Better Than Ever!

I haven't played in a few leagues. Came back and saw the changes and GGG has continued their push on Cast when stunned. There are so many changes that has buffed it since last time I tried it.

I have only looked a lightning since it is what caught my attention this league whereas before I usually went with cold or fire.

Stun Threshold determined by half of ES instead of HP!? Haha ok GGG. Thanks. No more unique ring that takes up a slot and costs you tons of Cold Resist.

Non-crit lightning spells are lucky. That means, no need to invest in crit, which means traveling around the tree to get what cast when stunned needs is now possible.

Triggered spells cost mana. That's great for Sigil of Power.

Random amulets seems to have +1 lightning to spells on them now so that's another good thing

Atziri's Splendour gives +1 to vaal spells which means if you socket a vaal spell in your setup it gets another +1 right there.

Damage taken Recouped as X on the tree. Wonderful.

The three Stat passive groups. Great! You can stack life, mana, and ES with stat stacking and then turn those defensive layers into into damage.

Spell surpression!? I love it!

Iron Will and Magebane on the tree. Perfect! You don't need to dodge with cast when stunned. YOu jsut need to suppress the damage spikes.

I probably haven't even scratched the surface yet.

Here is my imperfect gear and skilltree that shows several compromises that have to be made just for leveling purposes. But this build, so far, is just cruising through the content.

Right now the game plan is to get more elemental max resists and then stack as much attributes as possible + mana and life. Maybe if I can find a great shield, I would switch to a shield and add block chance instead of using a staff.


You can get more bang for your buck on your 5+ links with support gems instead of more spells. Even if all spells were created equal (they're not), the More damage modifiers on high level support gems will result in more overall damage after 3 spells are linked.

Maybe... I'm not sure.

Because Tornado interacts with the projectiles that instantaneously pop out of of the stun + vaal spark.

And then multiple skills deal % monster life damage

But the most important thing is that I believe all the spells manacosts that tick up really fast activate the sigil of power more quickly and maybe even the orb of storms. Also innervate's and sigil's added lightning damage gets added to each spell. I have not done the math but honestly content has been melting to this so far. Packs instantly blow up.

And it's not close to finished built yet. ATM I have 500 on all my attributes basically. 16k armor and 70% spell suppression. And + 3 max all resists in the next few levels. Finished build Maybe will have 700+ all attributes. And each and every gem will be level 23 + another 4 so that's level all level 27 gems popping off.
