Death Attunement + Fortress Covenant = Spectre count bug

tldr: socketed Fortress Covenant near Death Attunement and got permament reduction in Spectre count even after removing FC

I had lvl 20 Spectre gem and was running three Spectres just fine. Then (foolishly) I socketed FC near DA and noticed that the jewel overwrote DA, so I removed FC to another jewel slot where it wouldnt affect any notables. As I went back into another map, I noticed that my spectre count was two now. Checked the gem in my gem slot and it also said two instead of three even though I still had DA and a lvl 20 Raise Spectre Gem. I tried removing FC completely from the tree. Nothing. I tried respeccing all six nodes around DA including DA. Then I restarted POE. Then I reskilled those six nodes including DA. Still had Spectre count of two.

I may try releveling another Necromancer but I'd rather not waste two days doing that. Any ideas?

Other notes: I have no annointment on my amulet. I tried checking Raise Zombie and Raise Skeleton gems and neither is getting the benefit of DA with a +1 to the count.

At the risk of asking an unhelpful question, I couldn't help noticing you didn't mention doing so - have you specifically tried summoning a third spectre?

A dead one won't come back. Temporarily having a cap of 2 means 1 died.

Ok I feel really really stupid now. Yeah that fixed it. I just saw that the gem said max 2 spectres and didnt even try to summon another. Thanks bro. Now I dont have to relevel and new toon.
