Annihilating Light isn't working.

Trying to utilize Annihilating Light and we're unable to get the triple damage modifier to work with our build. I'm unsure if it's because we're using a spell, but it's Penance Brand. It does have the Lightning tag, which would make it an Elemental Skill... but equipping blue wands with 60% spell damage beats a Triple Damage staff somehow on tooltip.

Yep, I understand that the change is not displayed on tooltip now. But even then, gear swapping back and forth between double blue wands and then the staff- shows virtually no difference. And I imagine I would be able to tell between triple damage.
Been running Aura Support since 2.5 (15+ leagues in a row now).

It seemed to be working for me initally and then after something I or GGG did it bugged and my damage fell off a cliff without any big changes to the build, rip.

I saw this weapon and immediately thought to myself "SRS has a fire tag, that should be a huge increase in DPS" Well I just hit 68 and before clearing acts I wanted to test this out. I despawned all other minions and put the weapon in my inventory sent 1 SRS at a white monster and it hit for like 20% monster life per attack. Then I equipped the staff and they same SRS minion had no change in DPS. I summoned 1 more after it died from duration thinking maybe DPS was locked at time of summoning, the 2nd SRS had the exact same about 20% monster life damage per tick.
I thought perhaps it was just a weapon that didn't work with minions glad to see others are noticing it doesn't seem to work. |

did a little back of the napkin testing not super accurate. With a lvl 1 SRS & lvl 1 Frost bolt all auras turned off and the staff unequipped I went to the first area in act 2 and my SRS always took 2 hits to clear a white small monkey unless the SRS got a crit in which it would go down in a single hit. Frost bolt was about the same. When equipped the staff frostbolt would then 1 shot monkeys, however I didn't see any increase in damage with SRS. The wiki states that this weapon wouldn't work with minions summoning spells as the spell is not doing damage.
It is doing something based on my rough testing, but without a full elemental build I couldn't say if it is tripling the end damage calculation or the tripling happens somewhere in the base value of the skill. ...but now my build is screwed and now I have to start all over again :( I hate running thru acts 1-10 :( /wrists |

Yeah, looks like self-casting works just fine. It makes sense that it wouldn't work for minions, totems, ect. as they are not wielding the staff when the hit happens. That being said, this SHOULD work for brands. Brands are a hit, and you count as the brand.. but I don't think it is working. Really wish that training dummy was a reality to check DPS. ):
