Ignite interaction with Phys as Extra Fire

I wanted to play Wave of Conviction Ignite

1.When I pick magmatic strikes on POB this increases my ignite similar to divine fury. However- when i pick added as fire support which also gains Phys as extra fire similar to magmatic strikes it increases ignite by 0.

What is going on here???


2. Also if i pick Avatar of fire on POB it also decreases my ignite. Why wouldnt it increase if im doing 75% fire, and then 50% of the 25% of lightening as fire also. Confusing interaction.

PoB hasn't understood ignite DPS for a while. It does several things wrong, sometimes hilariously so. I think the main problem is it averages all potential sources of ignite instead of using the highest sustainable source. So for example if you have say 25% crit chance and add a passive that increases ignite chance, PoB will tell you it's a massive loss in ignite DPS.

I can't think of any reason added fire damage support wouldn't increase ignite DPS unless you had no chance to crit or ignite, but then other sources of added fire damage wouldn't increase ignite either.

Its important we differentiate added fire, and phys as extra fire.

I guess the big question here is, does phys as extra fire damage apply to ignites? I understand ignite calcs are based on base skill damage + added fire sources and then all the ignite mods.

However no where have i seen if converstions change this base ignite damage and in this case if phys as fire extra contributes to ignite base?

They both should increase ignite damage. Convert phys to fire caps out at 100%, if you try to stack avatar of fire and the 40% phys to fire mastery it won't really do much if anything for a skill that already has some phys to fire conversion on it. Added phys as fire damage, like on the added fire damage support gem, should always increase ignite DPS if the skill is capable of igniting and does any base physical damage.

Check in POB yourselfd that support "added fire damage" does not icnrease ignite for any phy to fire converted support

It does. Make a new build, add wave of conviction as a skill, then look at added fire damage as a support, PoB lists it as +155.8% ignite DPS.

Yes it does absolutely, i had my mouse on the skill name plate. To see the increase you must hover on enabled. thank you very much for your response
