Map bonus objective in 3.17
I have heard that the bonus objective to give +1% chance for higher tier map is gone, but I can't find a source. Does anyone know where it was said this is gone?

map bonus objectives are gone, yes.
instead, every 'bonus objective' you do, now awards 1 atlas passive point. for the massive new atlas passive tree. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3229978 this is where youll get all of your bonus map drop %, AND where you get bigger changes that apply to all maps you run. Yes I hear everyone saying that but didn't see it in the patch notes. Is there an official post somewhere that confirmed that?

" It's true that completing maps will now earn you points to allocate in the Atlas tree, this specific passage states that. But it also does not state that you no longer gain the previous completion bonus. I can see how one may infer that, but the game is normally very explicit with its wording. I guess my problem is, if that were true, then who is in a position to _not_ allocate the points that grant you a chance to gain higher tier maps? It's mandatory for progression, and there is little sense to place such a bonus in a tree that is meant to represent choice. Unless you're expected to use the 3:1 recipe to gain higher tier maps. |

" The intention is everyone gets them early league and most people spec out of them later league when they have enough maps. |

well, in the regular tree, we got "mandatory" point investment in Life or ES
in this tree, I expect the purpose of map passives is not to make you swim in maps, but to help you progress through maps. So I think map passives will be "mandatory", at least during the map progression phase IGN: Eric_Lindros

GGG is doing there darndest to make it so trading maps isn't required. You can hit yellow maps with enough +map progression to be on par with a nearly completed Atlas. The favorite map section will ultimately let you have 50% of your maps be target farmed, and every map can roll T16.

" It's not exactly mandatory, in that maps already have a chance of dropping an adjacent map (which can be a higher tier). You can progress through the atlas with that mechanic alone if you'd like, although it would be slow. You can speed it up by increasing the chance to drop higher tier maps. - here's my sig

" I completely forgot about that. That can work out, even without the passives. And when I said mandatory, it was in the context of progression. You do need higher tier maps to progress. Later when sustain stops being a problem, this discussion also stops being relevant obviously. Thanks. |
