venom gyre/whirling blades question

Hello,

Wanting to try something new. Can anyone explain how, if any supports work on the whirling blades mechanic involved with Venom Gyre?

I can think 3 possible options, or perhaps something I haven't considered.
Either the launched projectiles use support gems of VG.
Or, they use support gems of WB.
Or they use no support gems whatsoever.

can someone enlighten me before launch?

On whirling blades, some good option is to put things like on hit effects, e.g. battlemage cry spells or cast on crit
