Forbidden Flame/Flesh and the Scion
This might be a stupid question, but...
" Does the Scion get her own Jewels, or does she get to allocate from any class? The reason I'm asking is a bit obvious: Scions don't have a lot of ascendancy Notables, and each one of those options is basically turbocharged. Squeezing in a third (fourth? fifth?) option could be... hysterical, really. Last bumped on Jan 31, 2022, 11:12:51 AM

" Chris said she would have custom notables. Also Scion Class notables are about as powerful as a common class notable, so even if she could get those, they'd be able as fair as a 5th on other classes. |

Good to know, thanks.
I disagree on the power level though. They're more powerful because they're better rounded - balanced with the fact that you get two instead of (potentially) four, and the extra passive points on the tree. Raider Notable is a good example. +20% Spell Suppression. +10% move speed. Onslaught at full Frenzy 10% chance to get frenzy on hit for rare or unique enemies Phasing. The raider herself has: Rapid Assault: Always on Onslaught. Quartz Infusion: 40% chance to suppress spell damage, Phasing. Way of the poacher: 20% chance to gain Franzy charge on kill/on hit vs. rare or unique; +1 max frenzy. The options for the true Raider are individually better on their specific role, sure, but on balance you get a very very good bang for your buck with a wider set if you can just allocate the individual Scion Notable. These were balanced under the assumption that you only ever had two of them. |

" The problem with your assumption is scaling. Almost no Scion Ascendancy has a mod anymore that matches its core discipline in the main class. For example, Raider vs Ascendant: 20% Frenzy on kill, +1 Frenzy, 20% Frenzy on Boss hit. Perma Onslaught, 40% Spell Suppression Raider Ascendant is literally HALF that, minus some. Onslaught on Full Frenzy will never benefit a Flicker Strike on Ascendant. 10% on Bosses and no Charge gain on Kill = HUGE difference in charge sustain. Doesn't get +1 Charge. In Necromancer and Elementalist, literally none of the strongest Ascendancies are in Ascendant's List of mods for those classes. The ones that are, are so different and weak, they might as well not even be there. No 30% Resist while auras. no 30% Damage. No Corpse count mods. No ES or Life recovery. Inquisitor Ascendant has NEITHER of Inquisitor's core selling points. Instead of ignoring ele res, it is -8% pen. No Battle Mage. Even with Elementalist, you only get a total of -16%. Garbage vs Inquisitor. You're right that they balanced Scion vs a single Notable, if that's what you meant. But, Classes get 4. She gets 2. The summed classes do NOT equal 2 notables. |

" Yes. Because you're getting a second "Lite" ascendancy (EDIT: And five tree points), that's the whole point. And you're overlooking several things. Getting onslaught on kill from other sources is easy, onslaught on hit vs. tough mobs is what you want, and 10% is enough to sustain for many, many skills, making it no different than 20% and permanent onslaught for them. But the most important part is that you get them from a single notable, which is kind of an important point in the context of the Forbidden Flame/Flesh discussion. I said, and I repeat: The Scion notables are better individually than the individual notables from the other classes because they're wider. That's the extent of my argument, which I stand by. Oh, and I literally said that the class ascendancies get more at their core competency: " Not sure why you decided to skip that part of my post to make a point I wasn't arguing against, but you do you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Last edited by Walkiry#7196 on Jan 31, 2022, 3:35:58 AM

I can't see how these jewels are gonna work for scion tbh, some of the nodes are probably worth 2 jewel slots but most definitely aren't.

" The opportunity cost of these is definitely quite high. A lot of these are going to end up as vendor trash for all classes unless they can be rerolled somehow. |

You are also forgetting these are "very rare" drops from 2 end game bosses. These are expensive chase items that will range from a few exalt to multiple mirrors based on value and demand.
For Ascendant I think the biggest draw will be if you can pick two Ascendencies from the same class. |
