I noticed around Thursday of last week I have been having crazy lag. It seems to be every new asset I see(new map/new encounter). I had been playing the same build with no new additions/effects up to level 97 over the past 2 weeks and have not done any new content. I'm pushing 100 so I'm just grinding the same maps.
Were the shader caches wiped last week? Really spooky to play hardcore if it was wiped without notification.
I did not update graphics card driver because I know that resets the cache for nvidia.
Any idea what else this lag is?

It's a bug with multithreading, it was introduced years ago but was pretty limited, but after latest patch it's everywhere.
Go to BIOS and disable Hyper-threading if you have Intel CPU (or SMT if you have Ryzen).

been about to respond that this is just wrong but after reading some articles it turns out that most games do not profit from simulated cores, especially if the cpu already has 12 or more real cores.
so switching off smt or hypertreading seems to be a wise choice for gaming (not only because of 3g's bug).
thanks for posting
