Critical strike cap. and Marylene's Fallacy

Guys, help pls.
If I have 170% critical strike chance in calculations, but cap is 100%.
Where would "less 40% critical" works: after calculated maximum, or it will be 60%?

I highly doubt you have 170% crit chance. You probably have 170% increased crit chance, which is not even close to the same thing. But if for some reason you do have that much, Marylene's will take you to 102%, which is still capped at 100%.

Not sure if I understand correctly what you are trying to say but thats not how crit works.

I checked your Mjolner Hiero which has inc 180% crit from powercharges and tree, however you are nowhere near crit cap.
If the spell or weapon of your choice has a base critchance of say 5% then 200% inc crit would add twice the base crit on top. So you´d end up with 15% total crit chance.

Thats a long way off from crit cap and basically not even worth investing into crit at all. On top of that you´d still need a ton of crit multi to make the crit chance do anything for you, which is prolly why you want Marylenes.

Its not worth it for your build unless you invest a whole more into crit chance. Something like 400-500% inc crit chance from gems/gear/tree and a Diamond flask would bring you up to about 50% real crit and then you´d also need some 300%+ crit multi at least to make it worthwhile.

To make matters worse: You specced into Resulte Technique which makes crits impossible to begin with. If thats the build you are referring to, you are looking at a total overhaul. RT has to go, which means you need tons of accuracy across the board and then stack crit chance/multi like crazy.
I just think about next build, that's not my current or previous one.

You totally right about my Mjolner hero, but he was broken long ago.

I recommend checking the wiki: https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Marylene%27s_Fallacy

There is a table there, "Damage output with Marylenes Equipped and a excess of 100% critical strike chance".
Thanks, kind one.
I feel some shame about myself after that. :)
