Wish we get rid of regret orbs!
|
Hi devs,
This is one of QoL feature I always wished to have, so leaving as a feedback. It is such an irony the game boasting of build diversity doesn’t allow free respec. Of course people will say it’s not hard to get regret orbs, or just use Poe build tool. But, trying out changes in game always feel better than playing with an external tool, at least to me, and it’s not easy to just completely respec and burn a chunk of currency. One reason I can think why regret orbs are in game, is because of balancing issues, if everyone starts playing around with builds than just a few people. Well may be POE 2 can address it. In my opinion regret orbs limit build diversity and also discourages new players from experimenting. - Cheers Last bumped on Jan 18, 2022, 5:36:36 AM

Wonder what happens sooner, GGG hears you out and changes system that was in there for years and seems to work ok or you become realistic and start using PoB fork if you are so afraid of paying the cost for screwing up?
POE2 should be the ruthless vision experience and POE1 should be the zoom power fantasy sandbox to capture both audiences.
I petition to return all the fun stuff that was removed or nerfed over the years back into POE1. |

I do use PoB, given there is no better alternative as of now, although would love to hear GGG reasoning for regret orbs.

" We do know that one. It was something along the lines of 'we want players to get invested in their characters and don't like the idea of being able to switch to anything else whenever they feel like it. Also, we don't want them to be able to easily switch from, say, a labyrinth farmer to speed clearing build, and then to some boss farmer'. At the same time they didn't want to cut respeccing off completely like in D2, so we got regret orbs, it isn't really a bad middle ground, I don't mind it. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs. ◄[www.moddb.com/mods/balancedux]► ◄[www.moddb.com/mods/one-vision1]► Last edited by raics#7540 on Jan 18, 2022, 5:25:01 AM

Reasoning is nostalgia from times when a screw up meant you level a new character. They already "caved" when they made regrets, now you dont have to level new character, just get some regrets.
If your character is actually so screwed that it needs to be rebuilt from scratch then maybe you actually need to relevel so you learn a thing or two that you missed the last time along the way. It also looks to me like you are playing standard as afaik they give out free resets every major patch in there? POE2 should be the ruthless vision experience and POE1 should be the zoom power fantasy sandbox to capture both audiences.

ya right because that worked so well in d3...
no beeing able to respect at all would suck,i agree free respec wouldnt be much better though,i takes all meaning from creating a passiv skilltree imo poes system is in a good spot you can fix mistakes rather easy (especially with the free respec points from quest) or temporarily take nodes for leveling while still giving an while still giving an incentive to create a new charr |

Not playing standard just skipped couple of leagues for other games. Thanks for explaining the reasons. I just feel like giving free respec will promote more build diversity, since people can experiment freely and they might feel more invested in their characters since they can tweak it as they find better gear, level up, get into harder content, etc, trying out what works with their play style and what not.
