Spell damage / minion damage feedback

Have been playing the game on/off for years, so im not an expert in the game by any means.

It really bothers me that whenever you play a witch which summons minions, you have no clue how much damage you do or what things affect what. I have read on the internet that this and that doesn't apply, but the information are often very confusing with contradictory information.

So I started a new character and found a wand which add 9 - 25 fire damage to spells. Which I thought was good.

My zombies doesn't ignite anything, despite them being tagged as spells as well as minions and I assume they can crit?

Contagion is also tagged as a spell and here it doesn't work either, it probably can't crit, which explain why it doesn't ignite at least.

Summon raging spirit, I think it might work but again are not really sure.

However for all of them it says in the character sheet that they deal fire damage and ignite etc.

Can't you please fix this one time for all, its so frustrating.

Either:
1) Calculate the damage based on 1 minion hitting a target of the same level. Even if it is not 100% accurate it would still be better than it is now, as you would have something to measure against. I assume contagion is already calculated somewhat similar to this?

2) Improve the tag system, so minions and spells/abilities like contagion is not actual tagged as spells, if they are not suppose to receive bonuses, so the confusion of when spell damage and +damage to spells applies and when it doesn't.

Please solve this, its so freaking annoying.

It would be nice yeah, but for the moment you can check minion damage numbers on path of building. Its a 3rd party tool, but unfortunately its kind of a necessity to plan any build

Btw minion's only get damage from support gems, gem levels, minion damage on passive tree/items and auras/buffs. Any other affix on your rare/unique items don't affect your minions unless it specifically says so.

I know you can use 3rd party tools to do it, but still given for how long the game has been worked on, such things should be standard, especially because certain builds are completely built around pets.

The problem as mentioned is that some of these effects show up in the character screen as well as if they work and others doesn't.

Same goes with stats for zombies for instance, they have a crit chance, but is not written anywhere, you just have to know that it is 5%, all these information are already in the game, just hidden for the player.

Another example is that I use raging spirit with infernal legion support, so they deal fire damage each second based on their max health. Yet you can't see how much health they have.

Then you have skills like +15% ignite chance does that apply to them as well? Given that you have no clue if they can even ignite or not to begin with, then you also don't know, if this improve that chance as well, because the skill is unspecific. And in general the game is very vague in regards to what apply to minions, spells and what is even considered one or the other even when they have spell tag and is not a minion. Again Contagion doesn't do any fire damage, despite it being a spell.

Then I have the combustion skill gem that say that "Any skill that hits an enemies" and that this can be applied to zombies, but if they can't ignite, that makes little sense. Contagion I would say hit enemies yet you can't add it to that one.

And when I add it to the zombies, the combustion gem should give them 25% chance to ignite on hit, but this doesn't show up in the character sheet, so neither do I know if it actually work or how much damage it does. Likewise I added a "Add fire damage to them" which convert 25% physical damage to fire, yet again that doesn't show anywhere and given I don't know how much damage they do, its completely guess work if its good, fun or worth it. And again, nothing shows up in the character sheet that these effects are active on them.

I just think its bad when the game have such a focus on minions being a playstyle, that they hardly did anything to help the player and they just have to guess or use external programs.

I have the same question for over 10 years now.

Don't know which minion hits harder (base damage, same level, without passives). And now that I'm trying the Reaper, as it's just one I ASSUME that hits harder than others, but does it? How much? Zombie or Skeleton hits harder? Golem is also just one, is it comparable?
