Primal Aegis + Elemental Aegis Bug?

Hello! :-)
I am running a witch build and I have the primal aegis ability from the Ascendancy Tree, and I recently acquired and equipped the Magna Eclipsis Primal Tower Shield, hoping for another bubble of damage prevention... on the character screen, it shows the ability listed in my ability list, but the buff icon does not appear on the top of the screen. Visually It's hard to tell if it's applied, because they seem to have the same graphical appearance> I equipped it on another character to check, and the bubble and the buff icon at the top of the screen both appeared. As they are two different skills, I expected to be able to use them simultaneously, but it's hard to tell if it's working or not?
