Brand Recall Help Please!

In all my years playing this game, I have never tried a brand build. I don't quite understand the function of Brand Recall. Why is it better than simply recasting the brand itself?

For example: I have 5 total brands. I cast all 5 and then speed through spamming brand recall as often as possible. Generally after a few seconds I lose all my brands which greatly slows down my mapping because I then need to recast the brands. BUT if I just recast the brand itself at every new pack I have constant uptime of all 5 brands exactly where I need them to be.

Am I mechanically doing something wrong?

Brand Recall when it was initially implemented increased the duration of brands which ultimately made it possible with relative ease to have permanent duration. This function has been removed making the skill more quality of life rather than mandatory.

Now it serves three purposes: (1) It repositions every brand simultaneously; (2) it is cheaper to cast, specifically with Archmage brands, and (3) it is instant, meaning you can cast it while moving, casting, channeling, etc without interruption.
