Question about using Awakener's Orb

I want to merge the Hunter glove with the Warlord glove, the Warlord Spiked Gloves being the final one.

My question is whether it's OK for the Hunter gloves to only contain a prefix without any suffix. So far from all the YouTube videos I watched the content creators usually have a prefix and a suffix.

The only thing to be wary of is that there aren't more influence modifiers than the one you want to transfer on the old item. If so, it picks one at random and transfers it, which might brick your new item.
As long as you've got the mod you want (and only the one mod) on the sacrificial item, it's just a matter of doing it.
