Replica Frostbreath and 'Your Chaos Damage can Chill'. Please help.
Hello, someone help me please? In Replica Frostbreath (https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Replica_Frostbreath) in its properties it is written 'Your Chaos Damage can Chill'. Is it necessary to use a critical hit for this property to work?
If i play with Resolute Technique (https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Resolute_Technique) (Never deal critial strike) i must use only then Summon Skitterbots (https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Summon_Skitterbots) for chilling? No chill applies on any relevant hit, freeze is the critical strike element for cold damage (usually)

Chill is an Elemental Ailment that reduces Action Speed (movement speed, attack speed, cast speed), while Freeze is an Elemental Ailment that reduces such Action Speed to 0, thus "blocking" in a deep frozen state those who are.
Chill, Freeze and Shock also follow the rule of the Ailment Threshold. Long story short, the efficiency of your Chills, Freezes and Shocks depends on how much chilling/freezing/shocking damage you deal with a single hit to your enemy - the lower your hit, and the higher the max HP of your enemies, the lower the efficiency of your ailments, up to the point they are not applied at all. Chill will apply to every hit, crit or not. Freeze usually trigger with Critical Strikes, but you can make it happen with non-critical hits if you build up some "x% Chance to Freeze" Usually, Chill and Freeze are applied to Cold Damage but, as you can see, there are exceptions. If you have an item that says "your X damage can Y", the that kind of damage will add up to the amount of hit that is calculated for the efficiency formula I've quoted above. So, with your Replica Frostbreath, both your cold AND your chaos damage will chill at every (appliable) hit, and will have a chance to Freeze on crit (and Freeze on non-crit depending on your x% Chance to Freeze). Note that what I've said on the Ailment Threshold have its exception: - Elementalist and Ascendant Elementalist have dedicated bonus that makes all of your chills have a minimum effect, thus bypassing the rule of "if you hit too weak you won't chill" - Fixed sources of chilling like Chilled Ground, Chilled Areas, Skitterbot auras and so on will always apply a chill with a fixed effect regardless of the enemy's HP - in that case 10% - which you can boost further with +x% increase effect of Chill |
