Second Sight and Soul of Garukhan
|
I want to explicitly ask the question :
Do you get the benefits of Second Sight while having Soul of Garukhan "You cannot be blinded. You cannot be Maimed" ? After allocating Second Sight, I check my character sheet for my attack, it says "X% Critical Strike Multiplier". I now choose Soul of Garukhan (upgraded) as my minor Pantheon, check my character sheet, it says "X% Critical Strike Multiplier". X being the SAME number, which implies that I DO get the benefit from Second Sight, while countering the drawback. However, as the character sheet isn't the best indicator, I come to ask the question. Last bumped on Dec 22, 2021, 12:20:54 PM

"Cannot be Blinded" on Garukhan has no effect on Second Sight, because you are not "being" blinded. You simply are blind while you have it allocated, and there is no means of preventing it. It's a fixed, unconditional effect akin to "Elemental Resistances are Zero" on Veil of the Night or "Immune to Chaos Damage" on Chaos Inoculation. They can't be removed from you other than by removing their source.
The effects of the blind can still be overcome in other ways though. For one thing, Blind doesn't do anything to crit multiplier, so that's the wrong thing to look at. It causes you to have 20% less evasion rating and 20% less accuracy rating. Since critical strikes are also dependent on accuracy for confirming your crits, your effective critical strike chance is lowered when your accuracy is lowered. The 25% more melee crit chance on Second Sight already helps to counter the crit penalty from lower accuracy, but you'll still hit less often (and thus crit less often in most cases). Applying your own Blind to enemies, thus causing them to have less Evasion rating, is one way to help counter your accuracy penalty. Having high enough accuracy to start with that the accuracy penalty on you is a non-issue is also a way. Another would be "Hits Can't be Evaded" somewhere in your build. To fully counter the downside of Blind (including the evasion penalty) while keeping the upside of Second Sight, you would need "Unaffected by Blind". I can't think of any source of that besides Dark Seer sceptre though, so it's likely not a great option. You can plug your character into PoB so that you can see the specifics of how these things affect you as you add/remove them. Depending on how you are geared and built to start with, you may not need to make any changes at all to deal with the blind that Second Sight slaps on you. I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not German.

"You are blind" means you have Blind debuff on you persistently and "cannot be blinded" directly counters it since you can't have this debuff anymore.
But yeah you should check critical strike chance of your melee skill instead of the multiplier. Last edited by MonaHuna#6449 on Dec 22, 2021, 1:22:46 AM
