Forbidden Rite and Mines - No longer possible?

Last league I was working on a forbidden rite miner build. This was possible since mines bypassed the downsides of FR.

I've now gone into standard and am taking heavy damage every time I throw mines. Has there been some kind of change that I don't know about?
