Innocence has an OP attack, that is difficult to see. It makes the rest of the game too easy.
I've died to Innocent's fireball attack, multiple times.
My mate has died to Innocent's fireball attack, multiple times. My mate had max resistances. My mate complained about how boring the game was: How nothing was a threat to us. I can't keep them away from the boss, because they're so desperate to find some danger in the game! Most of the threat from the fireballs, comes from the fact that the giant fireball attack is pretty stealthy, and difficult to see starting. I have to call out in voice chat when it's starting, because my teammates are often unaware it's beginning! Make the core fireball, easier to see. Right now it's coloured dark. Make it flashing or something. Make the boss do a unique animation, to visually show that this extremely dangerous attack is happening. Make the boss say the same thing each time they use that fireball attack: Right now, one of the biggest problems is identifying that the attack is starting. Even for me, I often can't identify that the fireball attack is starting, until a couple rings of fireballs have started to launch! Unlike Innocent's other attacks, there is very little to indicate when the fireball attack is starting: In one attack: He warps to the center, and glows, slowy releasing minions. In another attack: He charges up and fires a brighly coloured lazer beam, that does not immediately kill you. Those attacks are easy to deal with, because you know they're coming. The fireball attack can sometimes just appear right on top of you. It's darkly coloured, and actually pretty hard to identify that you need to retreat. Probably 60% of the time, I don't notice the fireball attack has started, until I see the rings of fireballs filling the screen. If I have enough health to get through the Innocence fight reliably, then the Kitava fight is no challenge at all. I like the Kitava fight! But to reliably get past Innocence, I have to become so tanky that Kitava is a joke to fight. And it's just one attack that Innocence does: Nothing else is a threat! Nothing else brings me to low health. Just one attack! I've died, multiple times, to this one attack. So has my mate. Nothing else in the fight even feels like it could kill us: I can just pop a health potion, and tank his whole giant lazer attack. If I win against Innocence, then the rest of the act is not a challenge! Clearly the fireball attack is too strong. One fireball itself, is fine, but they move slow and are often packed together. When the attack starts near me, and I'm in a corner: I'm going to critical health, in five frames. Why is this one attack so incredibly dangerous? Nothing else in the act is so dangerous. Make the core fireball, easier to see. Right now it's coloured dark. Make it flashing or something. Make the boss do a unique animation, to visually show that this extremely dangerous attack is happening. Right now the boss tosses it out, like he's tossing some lint out of his pocket. Make the boss say the same thing each time they use that fireball attack: Right now, one of the biggest problems is identifying that the attack is starting. Even for me, I often can't identify that the fireball attack is starting, until a couple rings of fireballs have started to launch! Just make the attack more telegraphed. Right now it is THE ONLY THING that me and my mate and I die to. It's the only thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last bumped on Dec 12, 2022, 3:23:40 AM

the Act5 Innocence? this video explains the mechanics as well as the voice lines. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdiuPc9N_7Y but i think all his voice lines are messed up when the fight is prolonged. capped 75% fire resist is not enough to tank his super balls. |

The mighty golden cheeks clench and the heads of sinners remain in the abyss. Some secret places of god should remain unexplored. ^^

The bullet hell? He pulls his arm back and looks like hes rolling something underarm the telegraph is really obvious once you know what it looks like.
However I've always thought they should remove it, the whole idea is to hide behind the statues to create safezones but in most cases there aren't any and you just have to manually dodge by going to the far side of the arena. That in itself is fine, unless he chooses to laser as the followup at which point you have to be far from him to dodge the bullet hell but close to rotate fast enough and just get slammed. It isn't really a boss i struggle with but i'm surprised they've not changed him, i've got a few friends that absolutely get hosed by him every league. |

first off he zaps around so much.
and as mentioned it is what comes after his super balls that is scary, either the tracking beam or his slam can kill many players even if you dodge all his one shot balls. when i make my league start build, i always level up to him to make sure i can clear this stage. i think the fight is even tougher for melee builds. but then again most bosses in this game are not easy for melee. i also realized that sometimes his VO are not in line with what he is actually doing.
"Rise!" suddenly doing the beam thing ... |

It doesn't help that he's got the most annoying repetitive arrorant phrases in the entire game as well.
Is there anything that can protect you against the sparkler party he throws? |

Fun fact: when we alpha tested act 5, Innocence didn't have any voice lines.
I know streamers and a lot of Exiles fight him with the voice off all the time, but consider that this was pre-release testing for balance and 'fun' factor. Fighting Innocence for the first time (first hundred times, to be more accurate) without voice cues is a whole lot of not-fun. But in GGG's defence, his voice cues are excellent telegraphs, especially for people like me who don't read visual cues very well. And yes, the voice lines are annoying, repetitive and arrogant. He thinks he's God, so the ongoing declarations of 'I AM' tracks with the Biblical 'I Am That I Am' that God said to Moses during the Burning Bush episode. So GGG get full marks for appropriate(d) writing, but yeah, it gets a bit old. Rule of thumb: "I AM YOUR...GOD!" = use portal because sometimes the statues just don't do what they're supposed to. I mean, this is the same game where alt-f4ing is considered part of the design so honestly, portaling away to let Innocence get his fiery ball of fuck you out of his system is perfectly legit. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between. I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. Last edited by Foreverhappychan#4626 on Dec 12, 2022, 3:26:05 AM
