I need help with Ignite
|
I know thats the ignite damage is based on the fire damage of the hit, so, fire penetration on hit will not affect the ignite damage.
But what will happen if i have "Vaal Impurity of Fire"? I wont affect the ignite burn damage and also not affect the resistance of the mob directly, but my fire hit will deal more damage, so, the ignite will do more damage because of that? (of course the ignored fire resistance only affects the hit, i need flammability for example to my ignite deal more damage because of the penetration direcly) And Another question, if i inflict Ignite with cold damage the result is 0 burning damage from that ignite, right? But if i convert some of that Ice Damage to fire the ignite will be based on the fire damage part, right? Thanks, and sorry, my english is bad. Last bumped on Dec 11, 2021, 7:38:28 PM

Things that affect *hits* do not affect DoTs. So vaal impurity of fire will do nothing for your ignite (unless you have the alternate quality version that adds penetration for all damage).
If you have the ability to ignite with cold damage (there are some gloves that do this iirc) then the ignite will work, though it will do fire damage. If you don't then yeah you need to convert it to fire before it will affect your ignite. Украина в моём сердце

Thanks, the same applies with "Inevitable Judgement" from Inquisitor? (on ignite)

Someone else may have to verify if I'm right about this, but I believe DoTs are neither crits nor non-crits, so inevitable judgement does not affect them.

I was talking about the resistances, but about the crit part:
From "Elemental Overload" page on wiki: "The Ailments never count as being from Critical Strikes effect causes any damage over time multiplier specific to ailments from critical strikes to not apply. This includes the character's inherent +50% DOT multiplier for ailments from critical strikes, Perfect Agony, and modifiers such as +50% to Damage over Time Multiplier for Poison from Critical Strikes from Cobra Lash" |

and a bit more of information here. |

Critical strikes is a purely hit mechanic, DoTs including ailments can't strike at all.
You can't ignite with cold damage unless you got something allowing cold damage to ignite. Once you get it, your ignite includes both fire and cold damage to calculate burning damage it deals. |

Thanks, i have one more question...acording to the wiki:
"The minimum effective duration of ignite is 300ms / 0.3s, if a application of ignite has a lower duration it does not apply (as of 3.13)" "The burning damage over time is 125% of the base damage of the hit of fire damage" [3.3.0] "Ignite now deals 50% of the igniting hit's damage per second over 4 seconds (up from 40% per second)" [3.3.0] And if i have The Three Dragons and i use a skill thats do some fire and ice damage, my ignite will scale with the fire damage portion of the hit? |
|
|
No, The Three Dragons restricts fire damage from igniting. Damaging ailments are scaled by modifiers of those damage types that can inflict them.
I'm not sure how the quotes above relate to the question though. |

Yeah, thats have sense, thanks. The Three Dragons really confuses me.
