How does Intimidate Enemies on Block work?

Hi,
I couldn't find anything about the mechanic in the title when i searched here or on google. I would like to know how the Shield Mastery "Intimidate Enemies for 4 seconds on Block while holding a Shield" exactly works.

As I understand it, you intimidate the enemy which you blocked the hit from. But does it only work for melee hits or also projectiles and spells? Is there a maximum range the enemy has to be in? Or does it even work as AOE, so when you block, "nearby" enemies are intimidated?

I saw on the shield "The Anticipation" it has a mod to "Permanently Intimidate Enemies on Block", so maybe someone saw how it works on that shield and can explain.
Thanks

You block the enemy's attack/spell, the enemy is Intimidated for 4 seconds. This cannot be increased by skill effect duration because it is not a skill effect. Only the attacking/casting enemy receives the debuff.
@Aldonés

I see, thanks for the answer!
That was pretty much what I expected, but since I didn't notice any visual cue or something, I wasn't sure if there was more to it.
